Job Description:
  • Lead and supervise all field instrumentation activities during construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure installation of field instruments, analyzers, control valves, junction boxes, impulse tubing, hook-ups, and instrument air systems as per AFC drawings.
  • Verify installation compliance with P&IDs, instrument layouts, hook-up drawings, cable schedules, and specifications.
  • Coordinate loop checking, functional testing, calibration, and system integration with DCS/PLC/ESD/F&G systems.
  • Support cold commissioning, hot commissioning, and plant start-up activities.

Construction & Site Coordination

  • Act as the single point of contact for instrumentation discipline at site.
  • Coordinate with Construction, Electrical, Process, Mechanical, Vendor representatives, and Commissioning teams.
  • Interface with subcontractors and ensure manpower productivity and discipline-wise progress.
  • Attend daily/weekly site meetings and provide progress updates.

Quality & Documentation

  • Ensure compliance with project QA/QC procedures and inspection test plans (ITPs).
  • Conduct site inspections, witness tests, and close punch points.
  • Review and approve installation check sheets, calibration records, loop folders, and commissioning dossiers.
  • Ensure proper red-line markups and support as-built documentation.

HSE & Compliance

  • Enforce strict adherence to HSE policies, safe work practices, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Identify site hazards related to instrumentation works and ensure mitigation measures.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety audits, and incident investigations.

Vendor & Client Interface

  • Coordinate with instrument vendors for FAT/SAT, site installation guidance, and commissioning support.
  • Address site technical queries (TQs) related to instrumentation works.
  • Support client inspections, walkthroughs, and handover activities.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor site instrumentation engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
  • Allocate work, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of site activities.
  • Promote best practices and field discipline coordination.

Knowledge / Experience / Skills Required :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation / Electrical / Control Engineering.
  • 10–15 years of experience in field instrumentation for Oil & Gas / Refinery EPC projects.
  • Minimum 5 years as Lead / Senior Field Instrumentation Engineer on large refinery or petrochemical projects.
  • Strong exposure to Greenfield and Brownfield refinery projects.
